Tottenham began the Thomas Frank era with a 2-0 win over Reading, with debutant Luka Vuskovic contributing to both goals.

New Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic celebrated a "perfect" debut in which he both scored and assisted.

Vuskovic teed up Will Lankshear’s opener before scoring the second in Spurs' 2-0 win over Reading in their first pre-season friendly, and Thomas Frank's first match in charge.

The Croatian centre-back got on the end of a cut-back from fellow debutant Mohammed Kudus and swept the ball into the far corner from the left side of the box for his goal.

Vuskovic, signed from Hajduk Split, is thrilled with life at Spurs.

“I’m very happy with my start, I’m happier that we won the game with a clean sheet. Now we just need to continue to build on this,” said the 18-year-old.

“Kudus gave me a top assist and I just put it in the net. I had a bit [of] luck and I’m very happy about it.

“Everything is perfect. The club is behind me, the players, the staff, the coach. Everyone is helping me a lot.

“It was a good game, a lot of duels and transitions, and I think we managed it good. And again, a clean sheet and victory, so it is good.

“Having [Guglielmo] Vicario and [Micky] van de Ven beside me was an amazing experience, and I hope it will continue.”

Frank was pleased with many aspects of his first win as Tottenham boss, but had specific praise for debutants Vuskovic and Kudus, who led Spurs for chances created (three).

“I think it is good we scored from two set-pieces, something we started working hard on," said Frank.

“I thought [Kudus] was very exciting to watch. He had about four or five good actions. His pace, his one-v-one skill, his twists and turns were all positives.

“Luka deserves the praise as well. He showed his physicality, his composure on the ball as well. He is not getting stressed when the opponents get close [to him], and what a strike.”

Tottenham face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on July 26 before travelling to Asia for the first-ever north London derby during pre-season on July 31.
