Longstaff thinks he's found 'perfect' home at Leeds after emotional Newcastle exit
After leaving boyhood club Newcastle United, Sean Longstaff spoke about what made him want to make the move to Leeds United.
Sean Longstaff thinks he has found the "perfect" home at Leeds United after completing an emotional transfer from Newcastle United.
The midfielder rose through the ranks at St James' Park, joining the club in 2006 and going on to make over 200 first-team appearances.
Reports suggest Leeds have agreed a fee in excess of £12million to take Longstaff to Elland Road, with the 27-year-old penning a four-year contract.
Speaking to LUTV after putting pen-to-paper, Longstaff said: "I think from the first time I spoke to Leeds, I got a feeling that they really wanted me.
"It just fills you full of confidence and it just makes you want to repay those people. It is a massive, massive football club - similar to Newcastle in a lot of ways.
"It was going to take a lot for me to leave Newcastle to be honest and I wasn't just going to leave to go anywhere so it had to be the right place for me and my family and I think this is a perfect place.
"Every time I came to play at Leeds the atmosphere was amazing, it was always bouncing and a really tough place to play, and [I'm] just looking forward to having that on my side rather than having to play against."
Longstaff was used predominantly as a substitute last season, completing only 787 minutes in the Premier League as Eddie Howe's side finished fifth.
He also took a watching brief from the bench as the Magpies defeated Liverpool to lift the EFL Cup, having made five appearances in the run to the final.
Leeds, who returned to the Premier League by winning the Championship last season, have made five signings this window with Sebastiaan Bornau, Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson also moving to West Yorkshire.
