Jorginho may have joined Juventus had Maurizio Sarri remained in charge and could follow his former coach to his next venture, according to the Chelsea midfielder's agent.

The Blues beat Manchester City to the signing of the Italy international ahead of the 2018-19 season, leading to a reunion with Sarri after playing under him at Napoli.

Sarri departed Stamford Bridge after just one season, with Jorginho having struggled for consistency in that campaign.

A move back to Italy was mooted with Sarri taking over at Juve, where he led the Bianconeri to the Serie A title during his one-season stay.

Jorginho remained at Stamford Bridge, though, and started 27 Premier League games under Frank Lampard last term, making a further four appearances off the bench.

He created 23 openings for his team-mates, six of which were defined as big chances by Opta, while laying on two assists, scoring four goals and finishing with a pass accuracy of 88.39 per cent.

More rumours circulated Jorginho could be sold amid a close-season spending spree overseen by Lampard but he has featured in seven of eight league matches this term, already scoring three and providing an assist, while creating four chances.

But speculation about his long-term future will once again surface after his representative, Joao Santos, told Calciomercato Jorginho could link up with Sarri, who is without a club.

"He's very happy with Frank Lampard and Chelsea can do even better than last season," Santos said.

"Almost all the Italy players are in Serie A, as it's an important league, but his journey took him to London. If Maurizio Sarri had remained, perhaps he'd have joined Juventus.

"Jorginho has a personal and professional bond with the coach that is very strong. We're waiting to see where Sarri goes, and if it's a big club in Italy, Jorginho could follow him."

Chelsea are fifth in the Premier League after eight games, just three points shy of leaders Leicester City. 

Lampard's side return to top-flight action after the international break with a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.
