Adrian sustained a freak injury celebrating Liverpool's UEFA Super Cup win, but he has recovered in time to play against Southampton.

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has been passed fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton.

The 32-year-old suffered a freak ankle injury as Jurgen Klopp's side celebrated a penalty shoot-out defeat of Chelsea in Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup.

A supporter on the pitch slipped and hurt Adrian, leaving Klopp fuming given first-choice keeper Alisson is sidelined with a calf problem.

Had Adrian not recovered in time for the game at St Mary's Stadium, the experienced Andy Lonergan would likely have been called upon to make a surprise Liverpool debut.

However, Liverpool confirmed on Saturday that Adrian is available, having sufficiently proved his fitness in the past 24 hours.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino have all been restored to the starting line-up for the clash with Southampton, having all come on as substitutes against Chelsea in Istanbul. Joe Gomez, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson drop to the bench.
