'Were on a great path to the World Cup', says Rodrygo after 5-0 demolition of South Korea

Brazil were unrelenting as they thrashed South Korea 5-0 in an international friendly in Seoul, with Rodrygo and Estevao netting braces.

Rodrygo said Brazil are "on a great path to the World Cup" after they plundered five goals past South Korea in an international friendly on Friday.

In rain-drenched Seoul, doubles from Estevao and Rodrygo, as well as a sublime solo effort from Vinicius Junior, handed Carlo Ancelotti's team an impressive 5-0 win.

Having already qualified for next year's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Brazil are looking to build momentum heading into the tournament.

Ancelotti's side did so on Friday, as a clinical display ensured they emphatically outperformed their expected goals (xG) figure of 2.94, finding the back of the net with five of their seven shots on target.

"I think it's always important to first maintain a solid defence where everyone defends, everyone helps, and little by little the attack starts to work, and that's what happened today," said Rodrygo.

"I'm very happy about the victory, and my individual performance as well. Now I have to continue like this, after the two goals."

In addition to his brace, the Real Madrid forward recorded 19 passes in the final third, the third-most of any player.

"I was warned to treat these two friendlies as if they were World Cup finals. That's what I tried to do today," he said.

"Everything went well. I'm happy with the goals and the performance.

"I think the team's performance makes me happier than my own goals, to see that the team is evolving and growing. I think we're on a great path to the World Cup."
