Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala suffered a fractured fibula at the Club World Cup, but has since undergone surgery.

Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala insisted that there was "no one to blame" for the serious injury he picked up at the Club World Cup.

Musiala sustained a fractured fibula during Bayern's 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals following a coming-together with Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Bundesliga champions confirmed that Musiala had returned to Munich to undergo surgery, and that he is set to be sidelined for the next few months.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer criticised his PSG counterpart Donnarumma, saying that in going in for the challenge, "he's willing to accept the risk of injuring his opponent."

Musiala, however, refused to blame the Italy international for the incident.

"The surgery went really well, I'm in good care and I wanted to say there's no one to blame for this," Musiala said in an Instagram post.

"I think situations like this happen and now I'm just going to use the next period of time to build up my strength and positivity again."

Donnarumma looked visibly shaken following the injury and later posted a message to Musiala that read: "All my prayers and well wishes are with you."

Bayern manager Vincent Kompany was very upset about the incident, saying shortly after the 2-0 defeat that he had "rarely been so angry."

The 22-year-old played 40 games for Bayern across all competitions last season, contributing to 23 goals, scoring 18 times and registering five assists.

Musiala completed 100 dribbles, more than any of his team-mates. He also created 41 chances in the Bundesliga for Bayern, the third-highest in the squad.
