Mbappe admitted to hospital whilst at Club World Cup
Kylian Mbappe missed Real Madrid's Club World Cup opener on Wednesday, with the club revealing on Thursday that he was in the hospital.
Real Madrid have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is in hospital with acute gastroenteritis after missing their Club World Cup opener.
Mbappe had missed training on Tuesday and was not in the squad for the 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal the following day.
Madrid announced on Thursday that Mbappe has been "admitted to hospital in order to undergo a series of tests".
The Frenchman has enjoyed a superb debut season since joining Madrid following the expiration of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 43 goals in all competitions.
He is the highest-scoring Madrid player in their debut campaign with the club, overtaking Ivan Zamorano's record of 37 from 1992-93 (45 games).
Mbappe was the top scorer in LaLiga last term, netting 31 goals, four more than Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski in second place.
It is not yet clear if Mbappe will be available for Madrid's second Club World Cup game against Pachuca, whom they beat in December to win the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, on Sunday.
Madrid are second in Group H behind Salzburg, who beat Pachuca 2-1 on Wednesday.
