Aston Villa got back to winning ways in the Women's Super League, leaving Liverpool and Gareth Taylor without a win after 10 games.

Rachel Daly scored her first two goals of the season as Aston Villa cruised to a 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Liverpool in the Women's Super League.

Kirsty Hanson also got on the scoresheet as Villa got their first clean sheet of the season and extended Gareth Taylor's winless start to life on Merseyside.

It took Daly just 27 seconds to break the deadlock; Faye Kirby made a mess of a clearance, and the Villa captain backtracked before curling the ball into the empty net from outside the box.

Daly then slid in to poke another effort wide from an offside position shortly after, but Hanson added their second in the 28th minute. Grant raced in behind to square it into the box, and Hanson raced forward to fire it past Kirby first time.

Liverpool struggled to provide much of a threat, and Villa could have scored from a free-kick just five minutes after the break, but Maya Hijikata drilled a low strike against the woodwork.

Villa then rounded off the scoring 13 minutes from time when they won the ball back high up the pitch; Kirby was equal to Ebony Salmon's low drive, but Daly was on hand to poke it in from close range after beating Jenna Clark to the loose ball.

Lucy Staniforth almost added some late gloss on her return from a long lay-off, but her left-sided free-kick looped onto the top of the crossbar in stoppage time.

Data Debrief: Hanson's red-hot form continues

Daly got her much-needed first goals of the campaign, leading by example with three shots, while scoring with both of her attempts on target.

However, Hanson has now scored four goals against Liverpool, her joint-best tally against a single opponent (level with Tottenham), and has netted in four of her last five outings versus the Reds.

As for Liverpool, they became just the fourth side since the introduction of a 12-team league in 2019-20 to fail to win any of their first 10 matches of a campaign (D2 L8).
