Napoli 2-1 Juventus: Koulibaly completes comeback victory to leave Allegri's side winless

Alvaro Morata struck early on for Juventus, but second-half goals from Matteo Politano and Kalidou Koulibaly earned Napoli a 2-1 victory.

Juventus' slow start to life under Massimiliano Allegri continued on Saturday as second-half goals from Matteo Politano and Kalidou Koulibaly saw them lose 2-1 at Napoli.

After being held by Udinese before suffering a shock home defeat to Empoli, it looked like being third time lucky for Allegri in his second spell in charge as Alvaro Morata profited from a terrible Kostas Manolas error to open the scoring early on.

But Napoli responded through a Politano strike shortly before the hour mark after Wojciech Szczesny pushed the ball into the forward's path, and the hosts completed the comeback thanks to Koulibaly's finish five minutes from time.

It is just the second time in 52 Serie A campaigns – the other occasion being in Allegri's first tenure in 2015-16 –  that Juventus have failed to win any of their first three games to a Serie A season.

Napoli started the match on top but found themselves behind against the run of play when Morata caught Manolas in possession and beat David Ospina from a tight angle.

Dejan Kulusevski was denied by a fine Ospina save soon after, although the offside flag would have denied the forward, who was making his first start of the campaign.

Napoli showed good resolve to find an equaliser as a shot by Lorenzo Insigne, making his 400th appearance for the club in all competitions, was parried by Szczesny and Politano reacted quickest to squeeze home.

The hosts always looked the more likely to find a winner in the remaining half an hour and so that proved when Moise Kean's poor defensive header was fumbled by Szczesny for Koulibaly to score from a yard out.

What does it mean? Allegri's winless streak goes on

Juve have now taken just one point from their opening three matches and Allegri, who was without a number of first-team players through a mixture of injuries and recent international call-ups, can have no complaints after this latest loss.

Incredibly, Allegri has now failed to win any of his last eight league games in charge of Juve either side of a two-year sabbatical and already a title challenge this season is looking unlikely.

Napoli can dare to dream of another Scudetto battle as they lead the embryonic table after winning each of their opening three matches for the second season running, though four other sides could draw level on points with them over the course of the weekend.

Morata on target but Ronaldo-less Juve lack cutting edge

Morata did well to put Manolas under pressure and pick his spot past Ospina for his opener – his second fastest goal in Serie A after netting inside six minutes against Chievo in January 2016 – but the visitors failed to build on that.

On the day Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on his second Manchester United debut, Juve's players managed just eight shots in total against Napoli and failed to find the target at all in the second half.

Szczesny's shocker

Though not helped by some calamitous defending around him at times, Szczesny could have done more to keep out both Napoli goals.

The Juve stopper did make five saves, but two of those preceded Politano and Koulibaly's strikes. That is now five goals conceded in three club games this term for the Poland international.
