Forest hand Aina three-year contract after standout campaign

Ola Aina had entered the final 12 months of his contract with Nottingham Forest, but he has now penned a three-year deal at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest have handed right-back Ola Aina a new three-year contract after he enjoyed an excellent 2024-25 campaign.
Aina's previous deal at the City Ground was due to expire in 2026, after an automatic one-year extension kicked in due to Forest avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
Forest only missed out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the campaign, having spent long periods occupying a place in the top five.
A 1-0 defeat to Chelsea saw Forest finish seventh, and they will compete in the Conference League next season – their first taste of European football since 1995-96.
Aina's new deal comes after the club reached long-term agreements with striker Chris Wood and centre-back Murillo, while head coach Nuno Espirito Santo also committed his future to the club until 2028 last month.
Aina, who joined on a free transfer after leaving Torino in 2023, told the club's website: "I'm over the moon, I can't wait to continue this journey with the club.
"It's always felt like home ever since I joined and I'm happy to be here. Now my focus is on preparing for the new season well and getting back to hard work."
Aina contributed to 11 clean sheets in 35 Premier League games last season, scoring two goals and adding one assist.
Only Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk (14), Aina's Forest team-mate Nikola Milenkovic, Newcastle United's Dan Burn (both 13) and Arsenal's William Saliba (12) participated in more Premier League shutouts in 2024-25.
Aina completed the sixth-most dribbles of any defender in the top flight (33) while being successful with 42 tackles, with only 14 defenders winning more.
Forest open their 2025-26 Premier League campaign against Brentford on August 17, ahead of the first leg of a Conference League play-off tie on August 21.
