Fulham claimed a much-needed victory over high-flying Sunderland at Craven Cottage, where Raul Jimenez was the hero for Marco Silva's side.

Alex Iwobi claimed Fulham "don't fear anyone" following their dramatic victory over in-form Sunderland.

Marco Silva's side claimed only their second win in seven Premier League games, as Raul Jimenez's late strike saw them edge out the in-form Black Cats at Craven Cottage.

Fulham put a three-point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone, while recording a fourth win in their last five home league matches.

The hosts registered 24 shots on goal after controlling large periods of the contest, and Iwobi was thrilled to see their patience and persistence rewarded.

"Our home form has been really good," he told Sky Sports. "They're a tough side, and they've been doing really well, but we have belief that we can perform against anyone.

"We created so many chances today. It was almost one of those where you wonder if it will ever go on. Credit to the lads, we kept on believing and one of them went in.

"In the week, we were working on different ways to break down Sunderland. It was working, but we couldn't put the goal in the net. As long as we can keep clean sheets, then we'll always create chances to score.

"We don't fear anyone in the league. We give our respect to Sunderland. But now, it's all about consistency for us to go and get the results we need."

Jimenez's strike was his first on home soil in the Premier League this season. Each of his last 14 goals in the competition have either put Fulham ahead (11) or drawn them level (three).

"He had a really good impact," Jimenez told Premier League Productions. "We had opportunities, even in the first half. I want to thank him for the cross. I was ready to score.

"It was really important for us to win today at home to show our face. It was important to get the three points. If we keep trying, we will get results.

"That feeling of scoring is always good for me. To help the team to get these types of wins is important. We have been working hard on the final third of the pitch. We need to keep going like this."

Meanwhile, Sunderland suffered their first defeat in five Premier League games, and missed the chance to consolidate their place inside the top four.

Regis Le Bris conceded his team were second best.

"Fulham deserved to win this game because they imposed their style, their strengths, and we expected more or less this kind of game," he told Sunderland's official website.

"The first half was just okay, and we had the opportunity to be a bit more composed with the ball and to have more intensity in duels. Our second-ball management wasn’t good enough to change the momentum.

"We suffered, but we were able to protect our goal and we created two or three chances, but it wasn’t enough. During the second half, we had the chance to change the game, but we didn’t use it properly.

"The main point is for us to be competitive in chaotic situations, and we weren't at the level today. Fulham managed it really well and they kept this ability to push and, at the end, they created something."
