Marcos Leonardo scored twice as Al-Hilal picked up their second league win of the season with a 3-1 win over Al-Okhdood.

Marcos Leonardo scored twice as Al-Hilal got their Saudi Pro League campaign back on track with a 3-1 win over Al-Okhdood.

The home side had dropped points in their previous two league matches and made a poor start at Kingdom Arena, as they went behind through a 14th-minute goal from Khaled Narey.

That was the visitors' first shot on target during the first 45, and despite keeping Al-Hilal at bay for much of the half, their resistance was broken just a few minutes before the break.

A cross from the right was met by a strong header from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with goalkeeper Samuel Portugal only able to parry his save into the path of Leonardo, who made no mistake.

Al-Hilal then turned the game on its head as they scored again in the fourth additional minute, with Theo Hernandez driving forward before striking a low effort from the edge of the penalty area into the far corner.

The hosts continued to dominate after the break and got their third goal in the 79th minute as Leonardo was first to the rebound from a corner, prodding an effort into the net and ultimately sealing the three points.

Al-Hilal move up to fourth in the table and remain unbeaten, with two wins and two draws from their first four league matches, while Al-Okhdood remain rooted to the bottom of the table with not a point to their name.

Data Debrief: Complete control for Al-Hilal as Hernandez scores again

Despite an indifferent start to their league campaign and going a goal down in this match, Al-Hilal were largely in control here as they generated an xG of 3.55 in comparison to just 1.01 for Al-Okhdood.

Hernandez was their marquee signing of the summer after his move from AC Milan, and the left-back already has two goals from three league games so far.

It was a brilliant performance from Leonardo, and aside from two goals, he also contributed with the most shots (seven) and touches inside the opposition penalty area (10).
