Calvert-Lewin 'one of the best English striker in the Premier League', says Farke
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for the fourth successive Premier League game, earning Leeds United a 1-1 draw at Brentford.
Daniel Farke saluted the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin, describing him as "one of the best English strikers in the Premier League" after his goal against Brentford.
The spoils were shared at Gtech Community Stadium, where Calvert-Lewin's 82nd-minute equaliser cancelled out Jordan Henderson's opener 12 minutes earlier.
Calvert-Lewin has now found the net in each of his side's last four Premier League games. It is his best run since a five-game scoring streak for Everton between September and October 2020.
And Farke was full of praise for Leeds' number nine, whose strike moved his side three points clear of the relegation zone.
"He is a fantastic striker, it was never in doubt," the Leeds boss said. "His CV speaks for itself. [He's an] unbelievable human being, an unbelievable hard worker. We are blessed to have him.
"Harry Kane is playing in the Bundesliga, but he's one of the best English strikers in the Premier League."
Despite Leeds bouncing back to earn a point, Calvert-Lewin believes it was an opportunity missed for the visitors, who registered 18 shots to their opponents' seven.
"I think, in the end, it is a point gained," the striker said. "The three points were there for the taking.
"We didn't give them too much to go off. Going a goal behind is frustrating. In recent weeks, we have shown good character and good resilience to come back into games."
Henderson's opener was his first in the Premier League since scoring for Liverpool in a Merseyside derby against Everton in December 2021.
The ex-Reds skipper celebrated by paying tribute to late former team-mate Diogo Jota, who would have been 29 on December 4.
"Yes, it was his birthday recently," Henderson said of the ex-Portugal international, who died in a car crash alongside brother Andre Silva in July. "We will never forget him. We always remember him forever.
"I can only imagine what the lads at Liverpool are going through. He was a good friend, and I don't score many goals – I thought I would dedicate it to him."
