Lucas Chevalier's start to life at Paris Saint-Germain has not been entirely smooth, but he kept a much-needed clean sheet on Saturday.

Lucas Chevalier is adamant "the good days are coming" after ending his wait for a clean sheet in Paris Saint-Germain's 3-0 win over Brest in Ligue 1.

Chevalier had failed to keep a shutout in four straight matches in all competitions prior to Saturday's win, which came via Achraf Hakimi's brace and a late Desire Doue strike.

The 23-year-old, who joined PSG in a €40m move from Lille in August – replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks, has not always convinced in the early weeks of the season.

He was criticised following a 1-0 defeat to Classique rivals Marseille and a 3-3 draw with Strasbourg, both in Ligue 1, while his save percentage of 63.9% trails Donnarumma's figure of 73.3% with his new club Manchester City.

Chevalier has, however, kept six clean sheets in all competitions, with David Raya (eight) and Nick Pope (seven) the only goalkeepers from Europe's top five leagues to manage more this season.

In Ligue 1, Chevalier has conceded 0.7 goals more than anticipated, based on Opta's expected goals on target (xGoT) model, but he is confident he will find consistency.

"I try to learn and ignore what can be done around me. As a PSG goalkeeper, you have to meet expectations," he said after Saturday's win.

"The context means that it's in turmoil. It's a new job, a new life, new instructions and an overall adaptation, on and off the pitch. I try to focus on myself and talk with the coaches to improve what I need.

"I'm sure the good days are coming. I feel myself growing in strength, in confidence. I'm going to help the team a lot in the future."

PSG are back in action against Lorient in Ligue 1 on Wednesday, before a home game against Nice three days later.
