Sean Dyche took charge of his first training session as Nottingham Forest head coach on Tuesday as he prepares for his first match.

Sean Dyche said he hopes to “excite the crowd” as Nottingham Forest boss, but insisted his side must find the right balance and consistency with their football.

Dyche was appointed as Forest boss after Ange Postecoglou was relieved of his duties just 39 days after taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo.

Forest will be the third team Dyche has coached in the Premier League after spells with Burnley and Everton, with his time on Merseyside ending in January.

The 54-year-old has taken charge of 333 English top-flight games in total, winning 93 of those matches (D91 L149) at a win percentage of 27.93%.

Dyche’s first game in charge will be a Europa League fixture against Porto on Thursday, and he believes there is “some real talent” in his Forest squad to work with.

“There was a nice edge to [the players] in our first session, and we want to keep that going and take those plans into the schedule,” Dyche said.

“We've reminded them how good they are, what they've already achieved, and how we can build on that to bring consistency.

“There's some real talent here, so our job now is to find that balance - the risk and reward of going forward to score goals and excite the crowd.

“But equally the solid base which has been such a big weapon for the club, particularly last season. Finding that balance will be key.”
