Bournemouth complete swoop for Chelsea goalkeeper Petrovic

After taking Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea last season, Bournemouth have raided the Blues again, this time for Djordje Petrovic.

Djordje Petrovic has completed a permanent transfer to Bournemouth from fellow Premier League side Chelsea.

Petrovic, who spent last season on loan in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Cherries for a reported £25m fee.

The Serbian made his move to Stamford Bridge in 2023 from the New England Revolution and made 23 appearances in the top-flight.

But he starred for Strasbourg in 2024-25 as they sealed a place in the Conference League, with Petrovic keeping 10 clean sheets in 31 Ligue 1 outings.

Indeed, of the goalkeepers to make over 30 appearances in the French top flight last season, only Marcin Bulka (74.7%) had a better save percentage than Petrovic (74.5%).

He also made 38 catches, the second-highest total in the division, while only conceding 38 goals.

Petrovic joins the Cherries after Kepa Arrizabalaga returned to Chelsea this summer following his successful loan with the club last season.

The Spaniard has since joined Arsenal in a reported £5m deal, while Bournemouth also sold back-up goalkeeper Mark Travers to Everton earlier this week.

"I'm really happy to be here. I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow, and I want to play at the best level," Petrovic told the club's official website.

"Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player."

Bournemouth kickstart the 2025-26 Premier League season away to champions Liverpool on August 15.
