Scottish Premiership: Celtic rout Kilmarnock to close gap on Hearts, Rangers outclass Dundee
Rangers and Celtic were Sunday winners in the Scottish Premiership, but Hearts slipped up slightly at home to Dundee United.
Celtic pounced on Hearts' draw against Dundee United with a resounding victory over Kilmarnock on a Sunday where Rangers outclassed Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.
Runaway leaders Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw by United at Tynecastle despite taking the lead when Alexandros Kyziridis' effort from range struck the post and went in via visiting goalkeeper Yevhen Kucherenko.
Luca Stephenson restored parity with a well-placed header on the stroke of half-time, as the Jambos dropped points for the second time in the space of three games.
Celtic, led once more by interim boss Martin O'Neill, are seven points back but have a game in hand and routed Killie 4-0 at Celtic Park.
Johnny Kenny tapped in a 10th-minute opener, before Daizen Maeda missed a sitter for the hosts and Bruce Anderson hit the bar for the otherwise lacklustre visitors.
Kieran Tierney's low-fizzer six minutes after the restart put Celtic further ahead, though, and Maeda made amends to add further gloss before Arne Engels rounded out the win from the penalty spot when James Brown pulled back Yang Hyun-jun in the area.
Rangers were outclassed by Roma in the Europa League on Thursday but had too much for Dundee in a 3-0 win at Dens Park.
Nico Raskin headed home a corner and Mikey Moore swept home his first Rangers goal inside 15 minutes, before Djeidi Gassama curled in a fine third in second-half stoppage time.
Danny Rohl's side are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table but level with third-place Hibernian, who have played a game more.
Data Debrief: Jambos' unbeaten run continues as Kenny shines for Celtic
Hearts may not have earned the three points, but they are unbeaten in 16 Premiership outings, their longest run since at least 2013-14.
Kenny attempted a game-high seven shots for Celtic, with two of those on target. Indeed, each of his six touches in the opposition box was a shot at goal.
Rangers have now racked up three straight league wins, their longest run in the competition since a streak of five between January 12 and February 16 earlier this year.
