Amorim wants on-pitch proof after Mount voices support

Mason Mount has made it clear that the Manchester United players support Ruben Amorim after their 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday.

Mason Mount insists the Manchester United players are "100% behind" Ruben Amorim, who wants to see the on-pitch proof of those claims.

Mount was one of United's goalscorers, along with Benjamin Sesko, as the Red Devils secured a 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday, easing some of the pressure on the manager.

United have won their last three Premier League home games in a row, with the victory over Sunderland coming in Amorim's 50th game in charge of the club.

The 40-year-old has come under pressure after a frustrating start to the season, though, as they are yet to win on the road this term, but Mount says the players believe in what he is doing.

"We're 100% behind the gaffer," Mount said. "We've had some difficult results that hurt us, have been painful for the team, the staff and the fans, but it was important to win.

"It needs to be [the start of a winning streak] – we thought after Chelsea it would be the start of something, and then we go to Brentford and have a disappointing result.

"It starts [with the win over Sunderland], and we'll be working hard over the break. We want to get back-to-back wins, then three in a row and push on for the top four."

Mount's comments were then put to Amorim, who hopes he will see evidence of that support on the pitch.

"I know they want to do the best, and I know they don't want to change the coach all the time," Amorim said.

"We need to show with actions. Sometimes, when we look at our team, I know for sure that when we see the games, in the end, they know sometimes we can do better.

"I feel [the support] during the week, but we need to show it on the pitch."

United will face Liverpool away from home in their first match after the international break, with Amorim still seeking his first back-to-back Premier League wins.
