Hamburg 1-1 Borussia Dortmund: Konigsdorffer strikes late to deny visitors

Borussia Dortmund missed the chance to move up to second in the Bundesliga after letting a lead slip through their fingers in stoppage time.

Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer snatched a dramatic equaliser as Hamburg held Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw at Volksparkstadion.

It looked like Carney Chukwuemeka's goal shortly after the hour would be enough to seal all three points in Saturday's Bundesliga contest, but Dortmund could not hold on against the hosts' late push.

Yussuf Poulsen's low drive was easily collected by Gregor Kobel 20 minutes in, with Dortmund unable to turn any of their dominance at the other end into clear-cut chances.

Emre Can and Serhou Guirassy both blazed over before Nicolas Capaldo rattled the crossbar with a towering header six minutes before the break.

Chukwuemeka finally found the cutting edge in the 64th minute, meeting a looping ball on the volley to guide it into the bottom-right corner.

Robert Glatzel forced a smart stop out of Kobel as HSV pushed for an equaliser, which came from Konigsdorffer.

He leapt highest in the 97th minute to nod home and end a three-game losing run, as Dortmund missed the chance to move into second place.

Data Debrief: Dortmund's defence breached

Dortmund have been known for their defensive solidity this season, keeping six clean sheets already, but they could not hold out for a seventh.

More worryingly for Niko Kovac, however, will be that they only managed to get one of their 17 shots on target, though they did score from it.

HSV's 0.5 expected goals (xG) was under half of Dortmund's 1.06 xG, but they had three shots on target, despite also having 14 touches in the opposition box to the Black and Yellow's 27.
