Bayern Munich have started their season with 11 consecutive wins in all competitions, and a 12th would see them set a new record.

Vincent Kompany has urged Bayern Munich not to underestimate Club Brugge if they want to continue their winning start to the season.

Bayern have won all 11 of their matches across all competitions so far, a joint record by a Bundesliga club that had only previously been achieved by Borussia Dortmund in 2015-16.

They are now looking to break that record with a win in the Champions League and keep their place at the top of the league table.

Bayern have won their five home games against Belgian sides in the competition by an aggregate scoreline of 12-2.

The Bavarians have also only lost one of their last 24 matches at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League (W18 D5), with that lone defeat coming against Inter in April (2-1).

However, in the group/league phase, they are unbeaten in their last 35 home matches (W33 D2), since losing to Manchester City in December 2023 (3-2).

And Kompany is determined to keep the winning feeling in his squad on Wednesday.

"You should never underestimate the opponents; you always need quality in the team to put together a run like this," Kompany said.

"A win is a kind of prize that you win. And when we remind ourselves of the few times we've lost, and how great the opponents felt then, we don't want to gift that winning feeling to the opponents.

"There are always going to be times you lose, but we never gift anything. That won't happen."

Brugge have won one and lost one of their Champions League matches so far, following up a 4-1 home win over Monaco with a last-gasp loss to Atalanta last time out.

The Belgian side have not lost consecutive matches in the Champions League’s group/league phase since December 2021, however.

"Brugge are always a dangerous team, but we respect every opponent," Kompany added. "The preparation is always the same, whether it's Dortmund or Chelsea.

"Then the question is: are the boys in the right form? Do they have confidence? It's about winning, the mentality, but what always stays the same with us is: we push and keep going until the last minute."

Bayern are among the favourites to lift the Champions League this season, with the Opta supercomputer giving them an 11% chance of clinching the title.

Only Arsenal (20%) and reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain (14%) are given a higher likelihood.

Kompany is chasing more success with Bayern, having guided them to the Bundesliga title in his first season in charge, and on Tuesday, it was announced he had signed a new contract with the club through to June 2029.

"Everything's right in my personal life here in Munich; it's not difficult to feel at home here with the kids. That all helped," Kompany said of his decision to sign the contract.

"But my working environment is very healthy too – and I want to keep that calmness. I know it's Bayern Munich, but when I come here in the morning and have to do my job, I have a good working environment, even after defeats. There aren't many better places than Bayern Munich."
