Marcus Rashford's move to Barcelona is edging ever closer, but Paul Pogba has questioned why Manchester United would let him go.

Paul Pogba believes Manchester United are losing a great player in Marcus Rashford, ahead of his expected loan move to Barcelona.

Rashford fell out of favour at United shortly after Ruben Amorim took over, with his last appearance for the Red Devils coming off the bench against Nottingham Forest in December.

He then joined Aston Villa on loan for the second half of the campaign, where he made 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting five.

Rashford is in Barcelona and has reportedly completed his medical on Monday, with the Spanish champions expected to announce him on Wednesday should the final details be sorted in time.

Barcelona have agreed an initial loan deal for 2025-26 with an option to buy Rashford next year.

The England international has been at United since the age of seven before making his senior debut in February 2016. He has made 426 appearances in all competitions.

And Pogba, who played alongside Rashford for six years at Old Trafford, was seemingly surprised by United's decision to let the 27-year-old go.

"That's crazy, but I'm happy for him because they took his number [Matheus Cunha will wear the number 10]," he told streamer IShowSpeed.

"Manchester United are losing a great player. Unlucky for them.

"It's great for Barcelona to be honest. I'm not even talking about United, because they've bought a few new players and the new manager wants to do his thing, I guess.

"It's not really his [Amorim's] fault if he doesn't believe in someone. He needs to win. If he doesn't win, they're going to sack him."
