Despite Inter winning a seventh match in a row after beating Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0, Cristian Chivu wants his side to remain grounded.

Cristian Chivu warned his Inter side against complacency as they recorded a seventh straight win in all competitions with a dominant 4-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Italian side had to wait until the 41st minute before they found the opener, as Denzel Dumfries crashed an effort into the roof of the net after being set up by Yann Bisseck.

Lautaro Martinez then scored his 24th Champions League goal on the stroke of half-time with a guided finish, as Inter continued to assert their dominance.

They did not let up after the break, with Hakan Calhanoglu continuing his 100% scoring record from the spot in the competition as he scored a penalty after Kevin Mac Allister had handled the ball inside the area.

Francesco Pio Esposito missed a fine chance to add another, but eventually did get on the scoresheet to add further gloss to the scoreline as Inter continued their winning run of form and also registered their joint-largest margin of victory in Champions League history.

Despite this stretch of results, with Inter also just one of three sides, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, to have a 100% record from their first three Champions League matches, Chivu emphasised the long road his side still must face if they are to be successful in this campaign.

In his post-match press conference, he said: "They caught us off guard for ten minutes, but we wanted to win.

"Everyone responded well, we're enjoying the victories and the clean sheets today.

"This group needed to be understood, we can't forget the journey.

"We can be stellar until April, [but] then judged only by the result. We need to speak face-to-face and tell the truth.

"The road will be long; we mustn't get carried away."

Inter now prepare to visit the reigning Serie A champions Napoli at the weekend, looking to keep the pressure on rivals AC Milan at the top of the league.
