Chelsea ensured they went into the winter break on a high note by getting back to winning ways in the Women's Super League against Brighton.

Chelsea got back to winning ways in the Women's Super League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Brighton at Broadfield Stadium.

Having seen their record-breaking 34-match unbeaten streak ended by Everton last weekend, Sonia Bompastor's side responded in style in their final match of 2025.

Chelsea dominated the first half and saw Keira Walsh hit the post with a long-range drive before Sandy Baltimore's persistence finally paid off three minutes before the break.

The France international had seen an effort tipped over by Sophie Baggaley, who had also kept out Alyssa Thompson's diving header, but Baltimore cut inside to curl a lovely finish into the top-right corner.

Six minutes after the restart, substitute Sam Kerr's pressure paid off as Caitlin Hayes headed Erin Cuthbert's delivery into her own net while trying to hold off the forward.

Weike Kaptein and Kerr both forced Baggaley into action again, but it was Thompson who wrapped up the three points by converting the Australian's low cross in from close range.

Chelsea had chances to add to their tally late on without any luck, but the win was enough to see them leapfrog Arsenal into second, six points behind leaders Manchester City.

Data Debrief: Back to regular business

With Man City stretching their lead at the top and Chelsea stumbling with a three-game winless run, questions were being asked of Bompastor's team, but they answered those in style on Sunday.

The Blues are now unbeaten in each of their last nine WSL games against Brighton (W7 D2), a run stretching back to February 2021.

They completely dominated, having double the number of shots (16 to eight) and attempts on target (eight to four) of Brighton, though they will feel they could have had more goals if not for Baggaley, who made six saves.
