Gilmour: Napoli want to 'change the narrative' in Champions League

Del

Napoli have lost their last two Champions League games, and Billy Gilmour is determined to change the narrative in the competition.

Billy Gilmour wants Napoli to prove they are a great team as they bid to "change the narrative" in the Champions League.

The reigning Serie A champions sit at the summit of Italy's top flight, though they are level on points with second-place Roma.

It is a different story in the Champions League, however, with Napoli sitting in 23rd in the 36-team standings on the back of successive defeats.

After beating Olympiacos in their opening match, Napoli went down 2-0 to Manchester City and then 6-2 to PSV, with Antonio Conte's team seeing a man sent off in each of those defeats.

As quoted by Football Italia, Gilmour told Radio CRC: "The last game in the Champions League was not at all good, and we know that we want to change the narrative.

"We hope to get out there and immediately prove that Napoli are a great team.

"We really are a strong group, I think you could see that from last season, too.

"The new arrivals have settled in well, both on and off the field, and that team spirit helps us during matches."

Napoli's next Champions League outing sees them host Eintracht Frankfurt, who were hammered 5-1 by Liverpool last week.

First, though, Conte's team take on Cesc Fabregas' Como in Serie A.
