Germany's Linder out of Spain semi-final with ankle injury
Germany have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their semi-final, with Sarai Linder's ankle issue adding to two suspensions.
Germany defender Sarai Linder will miss the Euro 2025 semi-final clash against Spain on Wednesday after suffering a left ankle ligament injury.
Linder was forced off in the 20th minute of Germany's dramatic win over France in the quarter-finals, in which they won a penalty shootout 6-5 despite being a player down since the 13th minute.
The 25-year-old had started at right-back in the last eight, as Giulia Gwinn was ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury after their opening group game, while Carlotta Wamser was suspended following a red card against Sweden.
Linder has started all four matches so far, managing 290 minutes. Only two Germany players have made more clearances than her 10 at the tournament so far.
Wamser will be back for the semi-final tie against Spain, while Germany have said they are hopeful Linder will have recovered in time for the final, should they get there.
Germany will also be without Sjoeke Nusken, who picked up her second yellow card of the tournament against France, and Kathrin Hendrich, who was sent off for pulling Griege Mbock's hair.
Germany, who are making their 11th Euros semi-final appearance, face Spain in Zurich on Wednesday for a place in the Euro 2025 showpiece on Sunday.
It will be the third meeting between Germany and Spain at a major tournament (World Cup/Euros), with Germany winning both previous meetings without conceding a goal.
