Evan Ferguson has, at least temporarily, left the Premier League, with the striker joining Roma on loan from Brighton.

Roma have completed the signing of Evan Ferguson on a season-long loan from Brighton.

The Serie A club hold an option to buy in the agreement.

Ferguson looked set to become a star in the Premier League when he broke through at Brighton in the 2022-23 campaign.

However, the Republic of Ireland international struggled to hit form last season, and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at West Ham.

Ferguson featured for just 151 minutes across eight league appearances for the Hammers, failing to score or assist.

With Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler deeming the 20-year-old surplus to requirements, Ferguson will now look to rediscover his form in the Italian capital.

Speaking to Brighton's official website, Hurzeler said: "Evan had a challenging period across the past season and a half, and it has been one disrupted by niggling injury issues which hasn’t allowed him a run of games.

"He is over those injuries and has come back in great shape. Now he really wants to play regularly. This is an exciting opportunity in a strong league and with the prospect of European football.

"We wish Evan well for the season ahead and will be watching his progress closely throughout the season."
