Rangers 3-1 Kilmarnock: Rohl up and running at Ibrox

Rangers were winners for the first time under new manager Danny Rohl as Kilmarnock were seen off at Ibrox on Sunday.

Danny Rohl earned his first win as Rangers manager courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Sunday.

The Gers suffered a disappointing 3-0 Europa League defeat at Brann on Thursday as Rohl made his managerial bow with the club, but his first Scottish Premiership encounter went much better on home soil.

Rangers went ahead after 15 minutes when Derek Cornelius headed home James Tavernier's lovely floated delivery into the Kilmarnock penalty area.

Jack Butland made a complete hash of a Killie corner to gift George Stanger an equaliser and Ibrox was frustrated again when Bojan Miovski had a goal chalked out for offside after visiting goalkeeper Eddie Beach had belted a clearance against Cornelius.

But Rangers were back ahead six minutes after the restart when Jayden Mehgoma's delivery was met by the head of Danilo and hammered off the near post before nestling in the goal.

And it was game over when much-maligned close-season signing Youssef Chermiti had his first goal in Rangers colours in the 72nd minute, Beach getting a hand on his 20-yard effort but seeing the ball spin into the opposite side of the net anyway.

Rangers are now fifth in the Scottish Premiership table, some 13 points adrift of surprise leaders Hearts and five back of rivals Celtic in second.

Data Debrief: Three and easy at last for Rangers

Rangers had not managed to score three goals in a game this season, with the last time they had done so coming back in May against Dundee United.

The Gers have scored four goals via substitutes in the Premiership this term, with no team registering more in 2025-26.

Danilo's goal was also his first in the Premiership this term, with his last coming way back in January against Celtic.
