After suffering a leg fracture at the beginning of last season, Oscar Bobb returned to Manchester City's ranks for the Club World Cup.

Oscar Bobb intends to fight for his place at Manchester City as he aims to make up for lost time after a lengthy injury lay-off.

Bobb enjoyed a breakthrough year as City won the Premier League title in 2023-24, with a string of eye-catching pre-season performances following the next summer.

But ahead of the opening day of the 2024-25 campaign, Bobb fractured a bone in his leg which was originally supposed to keep him out for up to four months.

The Norwegian did not return to action until April this year, making three Premier League appearances before sustaining a hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old was fit enough to be named in Pep Guardiola's Club World Cup squad, though, and he has featured in both of their games in the competition so far.

Bobb netted City's fifth goal in their 6-0 win over Al Ain on matchday two, the first time he had found the back of the net since January 2024 against Newcastle United.

And despite the big-money arrivals of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, Bobb is determined to stake his claim at City.

"I expect to be here," Bobb said. "I think that's the way I have to look at it and, you know, try and impress every chance I get and, yeah, just be ready."

Bobb appeared set for a pivotal role in the Citizens' 2024-25 plans, registering an assist in their Community Shield defeat to rivals Manchester United.

He ended that defeat on August 10 at Wembley Stadium with team-high totals for chances created (three) and total crosses (four).

But his serious injury restricted the impact he could make on the City team, with Bobb on hand to discuss the difficulties of his rehabilitation.

"It was tough at times, but the club offered great support and I was always thinking of coming back stronger," he said.

"I came back around February and then got a bit of an overload and that kept me up for a few weeks, but then after that, I've been fine.

"But obviously, getting the fitness back takes some time, but I feel great."

Despite not starting for City in their first two Club World Cup games, Bobb is looking to grasp any chance he gets with both hands, starting with their upcoming clash with Juventus.

"I always want to show what I can do," he said. "So definitely, I think it's just about taking my chances and getting the chances.

"And then it's all up to me. And that's what I think. If I get the chances, I'll be happy. Hopefully, I'll take them."
