Barcelona failed to mount much of a threat as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, having also had Ronald Araujo sent off.

Hansi Flick lamented the errors made by Barcelona in their heavy 3-0 defeat to Chelsea but insisted he is "positive about the future".

An own goal from Jules Kounde, along with strikes from Estevao and Liam Delap, settled the match for Chelsea, who also had three goals disallowed.

Barcelona struggled to mount any real challenge against their hosts, especially after captain Ronald Araujo was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 44th minute.

Before Tuesday's game, Barcelona had scored in each of their last 24 Champions League outings, while Flick had never before seen one of his teams fail to score in the competition.

Meanwhile, Kounde's own goal was the 10th conceded by the Blaugrana in the competition; the most by any side in Champions League history.

Defeat leaves Barcelona 15th in the league table, two points off a last-16 place as things stand, but Flick remains confident his side will qualify in the top eight.

"It's not easy to win against this team, Chelsea, with one less player," Flick said. "But I'm positive about the upcoming matches.

"We have three games left, and I'm confident we can win them. But we made some mistakes, we didn't keep possession, some players made errors. It wasn't enough, but there are positives: Raphinha is back, Marcus [Rashford] is playing well, we have to be positive.

"It will be very difficult to finish in the top eight, but anything is possible. We need to play aggressively. We have to fight harder and play more aggressively.

"If you analyse the game, you have to see that we played with one less player and that has a big impact. You play better with one more player. For Chelsea, playing against 10 is a huge advantage.

"We had the opportunity to score first, but then, with one man less, it was difficult. We fought hard. I saw some positive things, but we lost too many balls; we lost easy balls under pressure."

Barcelona are the third side in Champions League history to concede an own goal and have a player sent off in the first half of the same match.

Araujo's first booking was given for dissent, with the second coming on the stroke of half-time as he slid in with a late challenge on Marc Cucurella.

"I don't know what happened with the first yellow card," Flick said of the sending off.

"I have to talk to him and see the videos, and the second one shouldn't have gone in like that. But these things happen in football.

"It wasn't the right time or the right play, but that's how it was."
