Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos brought up an impressive milestone as the Champions League holders beat Tottenham 5-3.

Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos was delighted to celebrate his 500th appearance for the club with a win as they beat Tottenham 5-3 in the Champions League.

Despite going behind twice at the Parc des Princes, the holders of the competition secured victory at home thanks to a hat-trick from Vitinha.

Fabian Ruiz and Willian Pacho also got on the scoresheet for Luis Enrique’s side, while Randal Kolo Muani, who is on loan at Spurs from PSG, scored a brace and assisted Richarlison’s opener.

PSG have now won 13 Champions League games in 2025, the outright most by a team in a single calendar year in the competition.

Marquinhos became just the fifth player to reach 500 games with the same club from the top five European leagues since he moved to PSG in 2013-14 after Koke (Atletico Madrid), Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich), Luka Modric (Real Madrid) and Jan Oblak (Atletico).

The defender credited the milestone to his competitive drive and was glad to mark the achievement with a win.

“500 matches is a lot. It’s been a long journey, but it’s gone by in a flash,” Marquinhos said after the game.

“I arrived here when I was very young, I wanted to enjoy the moment, playing in a big team with my idols.

“Today I’ve reached 500 matches, which is no small feat. And as I said in the dressing room, I’m proud to have worn this shirt for so many years and played in all these matches.

“I think it’s very difficult to achieve this. You have to be very motivated, very hungry and competitive because the competition is fierce.

“For this 500th match, I think the best way to celebrate was to win. It was a great Champions League match. I would have liked us not to have conceded any goals for it to be a perfect evening.

“We didn’t manage it, but I think the victory is still sweet. The team rose to the occasion and as we said in the dressing room, we wanted to celebrate with this 500th match.”
