Villarreal equalised late on to deny Juventus a first Champions League win this season, leaving Igor Tudor to criticise their lack of poise.

Igor Tudor believes Juventus were drawn into a nervous "frenzy" as they threw away two points in Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw with Villarreal.

Since beating Derby d'Italia rivals Inter 4-3 in early September, Juventus have drawn four consecutive games in Serie A and the Champions League.

Two late goals saw them recover from 4-2 down to draw 4-4 with Borussia Dortmund in their European opener, but on matchday two at the Estadio de la Ceramica, it was their turn to concede late on.

After goals from Federico Gatti and Francisco Conceicao had put the Bianconeri 2-1 up, Renato Veiga headed home in the 90th minute to snatch a point for Villarreal.

Villarreal had 17 shots in the match – their most in a Champions League game since they attempted 20 against Napoli in September 2011.

And Tudor was not impressed with his team's failure to exert control over proceedings.

"I'm sorry, it's part of the game, but we're angry about the goal," he said. "You can't lose a game in the last seconds from a corner like that.

"There were many of us in the penalty area. We'll take this point and move on. We worked and prepared as best we could, but we did have some difficulties.

"There was too much of a frenzy and too many nerves. Too many simple passes we got wrong."

Juventus have now conceded 11 goals in their last five games in all competitions, having kept back-to-back clean sheets before that.

But Tudor refused to criticise centre-backs Gatti, Pierre Kalulu and Lloyd Kelly, saying: "The three defenders are doing better than anyone else.

"We need to be winning more second balls. The three at the back held the fort for the whole game."

Juventus are next in action against Milan in Serie A on Sunday, having taken 11 points from five games to sit fourth in the table.
