Colorado Rapids v LA Galaxy: Reus keen to improve on attacking partnerships

Colorado Rapids v LA Galaxy: Reus keen to improve on attacking partnerships

แชร์

The LA Galaxy are looking to build an unbeaten run when they face the struggling Colorado Rapids in MLS this week.

Marco Reus is focused on creating better combinations with his attacking team-mates in the LA Galaxy squad.

The Galaxy, who won the MLS Cup last year, are now bottom of the Western Conference with just eight points from 18 games.

They drew 3-3 in a bottom-of-the-table clash with St Louis City last time out, despite taking the lead in the 87th minute of the match.

Reus registered two assists before being substituted in the 67th minute, and the German now wants to continue his positive momentum from that performance.

“Honestly, for me, it's the second time that we played with Nas [Matheus Nascimento] in front and with Joe [Joseph Paintsil] and [Gabriel] Pec,” said Reus.

“Yeah, we can be more dangerous in different situations, especially when we have to defend and then we win the ball. It has to be more efficient to the front.

"We have to create more chances. It breaks us a little bit in this moment but again, we came back.

"Now the goal must be to be dominant, especially in these games, especially away. I would not say that we are far away from this, but it miss maybe a bit more understanding of the situation out there.

“Me and Pec, we have a special relationship, I would say, because he has so much talent, but sometimes he has to understand that just sprinting and going forward and doing different things is not always the right way to do it.

“So I know he's young and he can learn a lot, especially this season, when it's not been going that well for him in the first part of the season.

"We stay together and we have to speak, about the bad situations in the game but also about the good situations.

"It's not like we lost games because we are not good enough. It's because we are making too many mistakes, and if you stop it, you can go on a winning streak.”

The Galaxy face the Colorado Rapids in their next MLS fixture on Wednesday. The Rapids are currently ninth in the Western Conference but have lost their last three games.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Colorado Rapids – Djordje Mihailovic

Colorado have been led by Mihailovic. He leads the club with seven goals this season, four of which were the first of the match.

He has failed to make an attacking contribution in the Rapids' last two matches, though he will be determined to get back among the goals here.

LA Galaxy – Marco Reus

Reus’ two assists last time out took his tally to five for the season, along with three goals.

He has already doubled his direct goal contribution total from last season, despite playing just one more MLS match.

MATCH PREDICTION – DRAW

Struggling Colorado have lost three consecutive MLS games going into their match against LA Galaxy at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Colorado have four wins, two draws and four losses in 10 MLS contests at home this year.

The Galaxy, meanwhile, will be looking for their first victory this season in away league matches, as they have seven losses and three draws on the road.

The Galaxy currently find themselves on a 10-match away winless streak. They haven't won a road game in MLS since November 2024, with that win coming against Colorado.

The Galaxy have got the better of Colorado of late, going unbeaten through the last five MLS matches between the sides. Colorado are looking for their first league win in fixtures between the two teams since May 2023.

OPTA WIN PROBABILITY

Colorado Rapids – 40.6%
