Chelsea ended their winless run with a 2-0 victory over Everton, but Enzo Maresca aimed fire at an unknown target after the match.

Enzo Maresca called the last 48 hours the worst he has experienced since joining Chelsea in an unexpected rant after their win over Everton.

Chelsea ended a run of three Premier League games without a win, and four matches across all competitions, courtesy of goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto.

On what was his 126th appearance in a league game across Europe’s big five leagues, Gusto both scored and assisted for the very first time.

And since his Premier League debut in August 2023, only Palmer (19), Nicolas Jackson (10) and Enzo Fernandez (10) have more assists for Chelsea in the competition than Gusto (nine).

When Maresca was asked about Gusto’s goal and assist, he responded by suggesting he and his players had not been supported,” he said.

“This is the reason why I praise the players because, with so many problems, they are doing very well after a complicated week

“Since I joined the club, the last 48 hours have been the worst 48 hours since I joined the club because many people didn’t support us.

“So very happy for Malo in that moment that the effort from Malo and the rest showed that they are all there and want to help this club.”

And when asked to clarify what he meant, Maresca added: “Worst 48 hours since I joined the club because people didn’t support me and the team.

“In general. I love the fans and I am very happy with the fans.”

The win saw Chelsea move into the top four, but they could drop back down to fifth if Crystal Palace beat Manchester City on Sunday.

The Blues travel to Cardiff on Tuesday for their EFL Cup quarter-final before a trip to St James Park next weekend, to face Newcastle United.
