Arsenal confirmed Martin Odegaard has sustained an MCL injury, but it is unclear how much action he will miss for the Gunners.

Martin Odegaard has withdrawn from Norway's upcoming international games after being ruled out with a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee, Arsenal have confirmed.

The Gunners' captain was withdrawn in the first half of Arsenal's 2-0 win over West Ham on Saturday, a win that left them top of the table heading into the international break, after clashing knees with Crysencio Summerville.

Odegaard consequently became the first player to be substituted before half-time in three straight Premier League starts, having endured injury issues against Newcastle United and Manchester City.

Arsenal did not put a timeframe on a potential return but did confirm he would not link up with Norway for games against Israel and New Zealand.

A club statement read: "Martin Odegaard has been withdrawn from the Norway national team for their upcoming matches against Israel and New Zealand after sustaining a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee during the first half in Saturday’s win over West Ham United.

"Martin will continue to be assessed and treated by our medical team at Sobha Realty Training Centre during the international window, with the aim of a return to action as soon as possible."

Arsenal return to Premier League action after the international window with a trip to Fulham on Saturday October 18, before hosting Atletico Madrid in the Champions League three days later.
