Vinicius Junior was at the centre of the drama in El Clasico on Sunday, as Real Madrid ran out 2-1 winners over Barcelona.

Vinicius Junior shrugged off the altercation he and several of his Real Madrid team-mates had with some Barcelona players during an ill-tempered Clasico.

Madrid ran out 2-1 winners on Sunday, with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham scoring either side of Fermin Lopez's effort for Barca.

Tempers boiled over at full-time when Vinicius was among those Madrid players to confront Barca superstar Lamine Yamal, who had accused Los Blancos of "complaining and stealing" prior to the game.

Vinicius was also involved in drama earlier on when he was taken off by Xabi Alonso, and as he vented his frustration, the winger said: "Always me! I'm leaving the team! It's better if I leave, I'm leaving."

However, speaking to Real Madrid TV, Vinicius brushed off his actions.

"El Clasico is like that," Vinicius said. "There are a lot of things happening on and off the pitch.

"We try to maintain a balance, but it's not always possible. We didn't want to offend anyone, not Barca players, nor the fans.

"We know that when we step on to the pitch, we have to defend our side, and that's how it was [this time]."
