Spains all-time leading scorer Jenni Hermoso is set to make her first appearance for the national team since October 2024.

Jenni Hermoso revealed that she cried after being called up to the Spain national team for the first time since October 2024.

The 35-year-old scored three goals and provided one assist during Spain's Euro 2025 qualifiers, but was not included in Montse Tome's squad for the tournament.

Hermoso, Spain's all-time leading scorer with 57 goals, was one of the key players during their 2023 World Cup success, which was then marred by the actions of former Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales.

Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the lips without her consent after the final, which resulted in the sexual assault conviction of the former RFEF president.

Hermoso is now looking forward to returning to the Spain setup under Sonia Bermudez, who took over from Tome after the Euros.

"I have to admit that I cried," Hermoso told Radio Television Espanola.

"It was a moment that I have waited a long time for and I've been working for a long time for.

"To continue at this level and to be able to enjoy football with the national team is the reward for all that work.

"For me it's been tireless, I haven't stopped staying strong because I did have some pretty tough moments.

"Maybe at some point in my life, it would have been difficult for me to come back and I feel very proud of myself."

Spain will face Sweden across two legs in the Nations League semi-final, with the first match taking place in Malaga on October 24 before the return leg in Goteborg four days later.
