Inter 4-0 Como: Chivu's men go top of Serie A in emphatic fashion
Inter surged to the top of Serie A after a comfortable 4-0 win over Como, with goals coming from four different scorers on Saturday.
Inter moved to the top of Serie A as they thrashed Como 4-0 at the San Siro.
The home side should have gone in front inside two minutes, as Lautaro Martinez played Nicolo Barella through on goal, but he was denied by goalkeeper Jean Butez.
Nevertheless, Cristian Chivu's men were rewarded for their fast start as they took the lead after 11 minutes, with Luis Henrique cutting the ball back for Martinez, who made no mistake from close range.
Como created their first opportunity of note in the 53rd minute, as substitute Tasos Douvikas blazed an effort over at the back post after being set up by Jesus Rodriguez.
Rodriguez continued to pose problems as Yann Sommer failed to deal with his cross from the right, but Alex Valle could not capitalise as he headed over from close range.
They were made to pay for their missed chances as Inter doubled their advantage from a set piece, with Federico Dimarco delivering a cross that was finished off by Marcus Thuram after Francesco Acerbi glanced a header on.
Martinez then struck an effort straight at Butez after fine work down the right from Henrique, but Inter got their third goal as Hakan Calhanoglu found the net with a fine effort from distance.
There was still time for another as the impressive Dimarco found Carlos Augusto with a pinpoint cross, and the Brazilian hammered home.

The scoreline may reflect harshly on Como, as they produced 0.95 expected goals (xG) from 15 shots to Inter's 1.24 from 11 attempts, but the home side's clinical nature proved to be the difference.
A key component of Inter's convincing win was their blistering start, and they have now scored 12 first-half goals from 14 league matches this season – the most of any side in Serie A.
This result makes it 10 consecutive wins over Como for Inter.
Martinez's opener, meanwhile, brought his 150th goal involvement in Serie A, and he became the first player to achieve the feat since the 2018-19 season, which was his debut campaign in Italy.
