Simeone grateful for Griezmann's attitude in Atletico win
Antoine Griezmann needed just 28 seconds to make an impact off the bench as he scored twice in Atletico Madrid's 3-1 win over Levante.
Diego Simeone praised the mentality and attitude of his squad, and Antoine Griezmann in particular, as Atletico Madrid beat Levante 3-1.
The score was level at the break after Manu Sanchez cancelled out Adrian de la Fuente's own goal, but Griezmann came off the bench to score twice as Atletico extended their winning run in LaLiga to four games.
Griezmann scored just 28 seconds after being introduced in the match, the fastest goal by a substitute in the Spanish top-flight since Borja Mayoral's strike after 26 seconds for Girona against Getafe in February 2015.
The Frenchman helped secure Atleti's first win against Levante in LaLiga since June 2020, ending a four-game winless run.
Simeone was delighted with the attitude of Griezmann, as well as the rest of his substitutes, with Atleti now level on points with Barcelona.
"Our idea is that we are all part of the team," said Simeone.
"Eleven players start one match and another 11 start another, but we are all part of the team, and that is where the strength of the group lies.
"The players who don't start do very well. The other day it was [Alexander] Sorloth; [on Saturday], it was Griezmann, and we have to keep everyone engaged in understanding that we are all part of the team.
"It speaks well of them because they are prepared. We are a team, and the team is all of us. Eleven players start, 10 and the goalkeeper, and then there are five to help.
"We are all in this together, and they are responding accordingly to what we need."
Atleti will face Getafe after the November international break before hosting Inter in the Champions League.
