Olivier Boscagli's potential move to Brighton draws closer after his departure from PSV was announced.

PSV confirmed the departure of Olivier Boscagli ahead of a rumoured move to Brighton.

The defender leaves PSV following the expiration of his contract, spending six years with the Dutch club.

Boscagli made 140 Eredivisie appearances during his time with PSV, keeping 37 clean sheets and directly contributing to 24 goals.

The 27-year-old boasted a passing accuracy of 85.4% in Eredivisie and had a tackle success rate of 59.6%, while also avoiding any red cards in the league.

The Frenchman won two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Beker trophies and three Johan Cruyff Shields.

"I want to thank everyone who has supported and helped me, both near and far," Boscagli told the club website.

"Thanks to my team-mates, the coaches, the PSV staff and, of course, the fans. I will never forget where I came from and what I have been through: defeats, doubts, injuries, victories, celebrations and trophies. It has made me who I am today."

Boscagli has been linked with a move to Brighton, having also been of interest to the Premier League last year, too.

With his exit from PSV now settled, the Seagulls are expected to complete a move for the defender.

While Brighton are looking to bolster their squad, they are also attempting to hold onto Joao Pedro, having reportedly turned down a second bid from Newcastle United for the striker on Saturday.
