Hakan Calhanoglu scored twice in Inter's 3-0 win against Fiorentina, but the midfielder was quick to praise the impact of Cristian Chivu.

Hakan Calhanoglu praised Inter head coach Cristian Chivu for his impact on their mentality after they beat Fiorentina 3-0 on Wednesday.

The Turkish midfielder scored twice in their victory, with Petar Sucic also getting on the scoresheet, as Inter climbed to third in Serie A.

It was an important win for Inter, who lost 3-1 against reigning champions and league leaders Napoli on Sunday, with Calhanoglu also scoring in that match.

He has scored five goals in seven Serie A appearances this season, as many as he managed in 29 games in the previous league campaign.

Following the defeat to their title rivals, Calhanoglu believes Chivu had a crucial impact in helping them bounce back.

"We made an immediate switch. We left it aside, and today we put in a great performance," Calhanoglu told DAZN.

"Thanks to the coach who gives something extra from a mental standpoint and in terms of being hungry to win the game."

He also told Sky Sports: "Everyone knows that if you play for Inter, you have to aim for the highest objectives.

"The team deserves that. It was difficult with the Club World Cup, but the coach really helped us mentally, so the important thing was not so much the motivation, but the discipline."

Twenty-two-year-old Sucic scored his first goal for Inter in the win following his move from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer.

He added: "It's nice to score my first goal, and I'm really happy.

"I worked really hard for it, but of course, the most important thing is that we played a good match and won the match. I'm happy for the goal, but the result is the most important thing.

"Inter are a big club, and there are many great players. I'm happy when I play, when I don't, I train hard. I think it's the right way. I'm happy with the performance."
