Champions League qualification will not determine Paz's future, says Como president

<p>Nico Paz&#39;s Como future depends on Real Madrid, and not whether Cesc Fabregas&#39; team manage to qualify for the Champions League.</p> <p>That is according to Como&#39;s president, Mirwan Suwarso.</p> <p>Como sit sixth in Serie A with two games remaining. They have already secured European qualification, but they are just two points behind fourth place, which is occupied by AC Milan.</p> <p>Paz joined Como from Madrid in 2024. He leads Fabregas&#39; squad this season for Serie A goal involvements (18 – 12 goals, six assists), while creating 51 chances.</p> <p>The Argentine seems set to return to Los Blancos this summer, with the Spanish giants able to activate a buy-back clause.</p> <p>And Suwarso says even if Como were to qualify for the Champions League, it would not necessarily help them keep hold of the 21-year-old.</p> <p>&quot;No, it all depends on Real Madrid,&quot; Suwarso told Gazzetta, as reported by Football Italia.</p> <p>Fabregas, meanwhile, feels another year at Como would be the best way for Paz, who he sees as a son, to develop.</p> <p>&quot;Nico Paz. He is like my son,&quot; Fabregas told Partidazo COPE.</p> <p>&quot;Another year in Como would be very good for him. But we have not talked or discussed his future yet.&quot;</p> <p></p> <p>Since the start of last season, Paz has registered 32 goal involvements in Serie A, the fifth-highest tally in the division in that time.</p> <p>Regardless of Paz&#39;s future, Suwarso also knows Como will have to bolster their squad over the summer.</p> <p>&quot;We already have a strong identity. The core of the team is already there. There will be 23 players returning from loans, and we&#39;ll have to find the best solution to make our transfers sustainable,&quot; he said.</p> <p>&quot;The focus is not on how money is spent, but on making a club profitable and sustainable. The target is to do so in the next two or three years.&quot;</p> <p>Suwarso would like to add to Como&#39;s homegrown contingent, but fears Italian players are too costly.</p> <p>&quot;We are always looking for more Italians. We bought four in our first Serie A season,&quot; he said.</p> <p>&quot;The problem is that they are expensive and we can’t pay them in instalments. We are developing four or five Italian players who we hope will be ready for the first team. I like many of them, but we can&#39;t afford them.&quot;&nbsp;</p>
